Eye care that starts with the person, not the product.
Some patients come for a routine eye examination. Others have an established diagnosis, a difficult prescription, contact lenses that no longer work well or a child whose myopia is changing. The practice begins in the same place: understanding the person’s vision, eye health, history and practical needs before recommending a next step.

Everyday and complex care
Eksteen Optometrists provides comprehensive eye examinations and contact-lens care in Rondebosch. Chris has particular experience in cases where ordinary spectacles or standard contact lenses do not provide stable vision or comfortable wear, including keratoconus, irregular and post-surgical corneas.
Assessment before recommendation
A technical lens name is not a diagnosis and is not automatically the right answer. Measurements, diagnostic fitting and the patient’s day-to-day needs are considered together. Some people need a custom lens; others are better served by a simpler correction or by medical assessment before any lens decision is made.
Care over time
Complex contact-lens work is rarely a one-off transaction. It may involve trial lenses, handling instruction, refinement and early review, followed by continuing checks of vision, lens condition and eye health.
Wider professional contribution
Chris’s career has combined private practice with professional leadership, teaching, hospital work and community eye-care programmes.
